When it comes to creating characters using the Human NEXUS, there are many inherent strengths. One of those is the weaknesses it provides authors to use in their stories and plots. The novel Emma, by Jane Austin, is a prime example of this tool used well.
It’s so fascinating. Jane Austin did not have access to this tool. She wrote her novels more than a hundred years before Chris Behnke, the creator of the Human NEXUS, was even born. That suggests that he didn’t actually create this system. He merely tapped into divine wisdom revealing to him something that was already in place and well established.
In the Human NEXUS, there are what Chris calls the blends. There is also a phenomenon he calls misalignment. This is what was in play with Emma, the protagonist in the novel bearing her name.
Emma excels at providing solutions. However, she uses that in service of influencing others. She is operating first and foremost as an Influencer. Unfortunately, she does not read people as well as someone who’s primary strength is as an Influencer. She consistently misreads intentions and motivations. She consistently misreads what people are feeling.
As part of her character arc and maturing process, she must develop enough humility to know that she is harming the very people she is trying to help. When a Solutionary provides incorrect solutions, they desconstruct something operating well in such a catastrophic way that it is never the same afterward. Emma’s greatest solution will be solving the fact that she is creating problems.
When she flip flops, and starts using her Influencer abilities in service to her Solutionary strengths, instead of the other way around, she stops creating problems.
Instead of manipulating situations to get her friends to fall in love with each other, she backs off and observes. Instead of believing she knows more about people’s motivations than anyone else, she listens and respects outside advice. Instead of assuming inappropriate trysts between people she doesn’t respect, she learns to honor other people’s desires and intentions. Only then does she get to know herself well enough to understand her own feelings for someone she loves deep down inside. Only then does she obtain the reward of a long-standing relationship, something she only ever sought for other people.
Only then is she able to accept the happiness of her friends when they find the relationships they are naturally inclined to.
